  • Advise the client on how to avoid claims and disputes thru proper contract administration and project record keeping.

  • Perform a detailed review of all contract documents, contract schedule, schedule updates, Requests for Information, Site Instructions, Change Orders, Contemplated Changes, Relevant Correspondence, Progress Payments and associated data.

Jawwad Waheed, FCIArb., P,Eng., LL.M., B.Sc. (Civil Eng.) is founder and Director of Barakah Global Consulting Ltd. (BGC). His area of expertise is analysis and quantification of construction claims. BGC has been providing claims management and dispute resolution services, in collaboration with its multiple special skills resources acorss different parts of the world, to owners, developers and contractors and supporting legal counsels for ADR / Arbitration. 

Waheed has around 24 years experience (in Middle East, South Asia and North America) in the on-site construction management for civil infrastructure, heavy civil, airports construction and expansion, power houses, hotels, energy and municipal infrastructure projects. He has an extensive experience as claims consultant preparing construction delay impact claims, expert and executive reports and providing contract advisory to owners, contractors, and legal counsel on multi-disciplined projects, inclusive of civil / architectural, mechanical, and electrical works.


He has been leading claims department of the Supply Chain Management (SCM) unit for multi-billion dollars project implementing Project's Claims Management strategies , engaging teams for a collaborative claims handling approach. He has developed the SCM Claims Management Guidelines and Procedures for the Project team to play their role in Claims Avoidance and perusal of Owner's Claims. He has been providing support to legal counsel during arbitration proceedings in the areas of schedule delay analysis methodologies, quantification of damages and productivity issues.

Waheed has prepared a number of claims and expert reports, attended several seminars and workshops, and delivered training sessions on the subject of claims avoidance, preparation and management. He has been involved in contractual and commercial claim preparation for employers and contractors. His experience has included evaluating contract documents and project correspondence and analysis of disputes caused by delays, change orders, variation instructions and a number of other change or relief events.

Waheed's extensive experience as Civil Engineer while managing construction on large scale multi-disciplined projects has given him the education and experience for understanding project dispute issues and for preparing thorough expert reports to be used in mediation, arbitration or litigation proceedings. He has experience in FIDIC, Bespoke forms, SCL Protocol and other industry procedures. 

His experience includes working for the following sectors: Aviation, Oil and Gas, Pipeline, Energy, Hospitality & Hospitals.
